Our life is an apprenticeship to the truth, that around every circle another can be drawn; that there is no end in nature, but every end is a beginning.

Saturday Night, Thai Samakee

I may not know how to cook. I may not know how to speak Thai. I may be 51 and flat ass broke. But I tell you what. I know how to plan a party for one on a Saturday night in anyplace hot. The ingredients are simple, really, the pleasures infinite. Here is what you need:

One Hercules fan.
One short glass of Brandy with plenty of ice and one decent Dominican cigar.
You are going to need access to the internet and to Youtube- hopefully you have a decent sound system because you will want to turn it up, I guarantee you.
Now just type in this addressand start that 40 song playlist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGwH-x4VoH8&feature=list_related&playnext=1&list=MLGxdCwVVULXf5iCfEczIK4BzxZr3G18mV
Basically comprised of Adele (Thanks Hannah for that!) and Amy Winehouse from the modern era, and lots of Carol King, Roberta Flack, and best of all Etta James.
The most telling aspect of listening to Etta is how much she did with so little gimmickry - nice to see singers like Adele bringing some of that back. To me, a billion dollar light show of a Gaga or Madonna will never equal the soulful deep feminism represented by this voluptuous powerhouse.

You will want to turn down the lights a little for atmosphere natch. And you need someone absent to dream on. Mmmmmmmm. Who could ask for anything more?
